Classic tractor tyres

We struggled with the choice between traditional cross ply tyres over modern radial tyres. After discussions with our tyre sponsors Goodyear we decided to go with the traditional diamond faced Goodyear All Surface Crossply tyre 12.4x28 rear and 6.00x16 front. Goodyear also supplied us with a local tyre fitter to help in the form of Charles Hurst Tyres of Coleraine, N.Ireland.

This is a personal choice as many restorers are now fitting radials. If you are trying to keep the tractor as origional as possible then the crossply tyre is the way to go.

  1. Tractor tyres used to be made out of metal, including the tread. Original tractor tires wouldn't even be useful on the road. Asphalt can't withstand solid metal. tyrebusters.com.au
